Living Life According to the Attributes of God – Omnipotence

OMNIPOTENCE

God is all powerful

Too many have an inaccurate  view of God – God is so small (He’s just not big enough!!)

Genesis 18:14

“Is anything too difficult for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

Ephesians 3:20

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.”

Luke 1:37

“For nothing will be impossible with God.”

Application to various life situations

God alone has the power to change someone’s heart.

God alone has the power for Trials/Suffering:

  •       Examples of God’s power in the O.T. (Red Sea, Jordon, Jericho)
  •       Examples of God’s power in the N.T. (miracles of Christ . . . resurrection!)

God lone is able to supply lasting hope.

Psalm 40:1-3

“I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.  He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.  He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.  Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust.”
