The shield of God around me

Ps 5:12 “For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.”
While there are many unknowns I will be facing in this new year, I am glad for the certainty that if I stay close to God He will protect me.

"Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations"

1 Sam 8:6-7
“But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, ‘Give us a king to judge us.’ So Samuel prayed to the LORD. 7 And the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them’.”

It is rather interesting to see history repeat itself.

What if God designed marriage to make you holy, not happy? This powerful book by Gary Thomas explores the idea that the most powerful and sometimes most difficult relationship here on earth is about bringing glory to God.

Reasons for Suffering

One cannot always know the specific whys for suffering. However, as a student of life, one can see that there are at least five sources for suffering. The first source for suffering is others. My wife and I have been robbed twice. The second source for suffering would be self. Something wrong was said or done and there were consquences to pay. A third source for suffering is Satan. Look at what Satan did to the life of Job in the Old Testament. A fourth source is the fall of Adam. When Adam sinned, God cursed this earth. The final source for suffering is God. In the Scriptures there are at least 13 reasons why God allows suffering in the life of his children.

Authentic Christianity

What are the essentials for being a Christian?

Jesus forewarned us of false or counterfeit Christianity in Matt. 7:21-23
"Not everyone who says to Me,'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

There are those who call Jesus “Lord Lord” and do all kind of religious works and yet Jesus says to them that He does not know them. So how does one know that he is known by Jesus?

Your ideas are welcomed and can be sent to my e-mail on the “contact” portion of this web site.

Hi, I'm Pastor Dan

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born and reared in Minnesota. I accepted Christ as personal Lord and Savior in the spring of 1979, and was baptized July 1979. I attended and graduated from Pensacola Christian College. After graduation, I attended Central Baptist Theological Seminary graduating with a Master of Divinity in 1987 and a Doctor of Ministry (Counseling) in 1996. I am also a member of the National Association of Nouthetic Counseling. My wife Robin and I have a son (Eric) and a daughter (Stephanie).

We began our ministry here at Oxford Valley Chapel in March 1998. God in his gracious mercy has seen fit to bless this ministry and we are greatly anticipating what God has in store for us as we seek to advance His cause in the Oxford Valley area.
